योगवासिष्ठः       yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-4, chapter-42, verse-32

स्वसंकल्पानुसंधानात्पाशैरिव नयन्वपुः ।
कष्टमस्मिन्स्वयं बन्धमेत्यात्मा परितप्यते ॥ ३२ ॥
svasaṃkalpānusaṃdhānātpāśairiva nayanvapuḥ ,
kaṣṭamasminsvayaṃ bandhametyātmā paritapyate 32
32. sva-saṃkalpa-anusandhānāt pāśaiḥ iva nayan vapuḥ |
kaṣṭam asmin svayam bandham eti ātman paritapyate ||
32. sva-saṃkalpa-anusandhānāt pāśaiḥ iva vapuḥ nayan
kaṣṭam asmin svayam bandham eti ātman paritapyate
32. Through the continuous application of its own resolves (saṃkalpa), dragging the body (vapus) along as if by nooses, alas, the self (ātman) itself enters into this bondage (bandha) and suffers greatly.
