योगवासिष्ठः       yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-3, chapter-111, verse-4

स्वसंवेदनयत्नेन पाल्यते चित्तबालकः ।
अवस्तुतो वस्तुनि च योज्यते बोध्यतेऽपि च ॥ ४ ॥
svasaṃvedanayatnena pālyate cittabālakaḥ ,
avastuto vastuni ca yojyate bodhyate'pi ca 4

avastutaḥ vastuni ca yojyate bodhyate api ca
4. cittabālakaḥ svasaṃvedanayatnena pālyate,
(saḥ) avastutaḥ vastuni ca yojyate,

4. The childlike mind (citta-bālaka) is nurtured through the effort of self-awareness (svasaṃvedana). It is guided away from what is unreal and directed towards what is real, and it is also made to understand.
