वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-6, chapter-45, verse-14

प्रदानेन तु सीतायाः श्रेयो व्यवसितं मया ।
अप्रदाने पुनर्युद्धं दृष्टमेतत्तथैव नः ॥१४॥
14. pradānena tu sītāyāḥ śreyo vyavasitaṃ mayā ,
apradāne punaryuddhaṃ dṛṣṭametattathaiva naḥ.

apradāne punar yuddhaṃ dṛṣṭam etat tathā eva naḥ
14. tu sītāyāḥ pradānena mayā śreyas vyavasitam

14. However, I have resolved that welfare (śreyas) lies in giving Sītā back. On the other hand, if she is not given back, then war is what we have seen as the inevitable outcome.
