मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-72, verse-37

तस्य दृष्ट्वा वपुः कान्तं भविष्यं शीलमेव च ।
औत्तमश्चेति मुनयो नाम चक्रुः समागताः ॥३७॥
37. tasya dṛṣṭvā vapuḥ kāntaṃ bhaviṣyaṃ śīlameva ca .
auttamaśceti munayo nāma cakruḥ samāgatāḥ.
37. tasya dṛṣṭvā vapuḥ kāntam bhaviṣyam śīlam eva ca
auttamaḥ ca iti munayaḥ nāma cakruḥ samāgatāḥ
37. Having seen his beautiful form and also his future character, the assembled sages named him "Auttama."
