मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-72, verse-22

पत्न्युवाच ।
मदर्थं तेन नागेन सुता शप्ता सखी मम ।
मूका भविष्यसीत्याह सा च मूकत्वमागता ॥२२॥
22. patnyuvāca .
madarthaṃ tena nāgena sutā śaptā sakhī mama .
mūkā bhaviṣyasītyāha sā ca mūkatvamāgatā.
22. patnī uvāca madarthaṃ tena nāgena sutā śaptā sakhī
mama mūkā bhaviṣyasi iti āha sā ca mūkatvaṃ āgatā
22. The wife said, 'For my sake, that nāga (nāga) cursed my friend's daughter, saying, "You will be mute." And she has indeed become mute.'
