महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-9, chapter-8, verse-4

नागैरभ्याहताः केचित्सरथा रथिनोऽपतन् ।
व्यद्रवन्त रणे वीरा द्राव्यमाणा मदोत्कटैः ॥४॥
4. nāgairabhyāhatāḥ kecitsarathā rathino'patan ,
vyadravanta raṇe vīrā drāvyamāṇā madotkaṭaiḥ.

4. Some charioteers, along with their chariots, were struck down by the elephants and fell. Other heroes, being driven away by the infuriated (madotkaṭa) elephants, fled from the battle.
