महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-9, chapter-8, verse-25

मातङ्गाश्चाप्यदृश्यन्त शरतोमरपीडिताः ।
पतन्तस्तत्र तत्रैव छिन्नाभ्रसदृशा रणे ॥२५॥
25. mātaṅgāścāpyadṛśyanta śaratomarapīḍitāḥ ,
patantastatra tatraiva chinnābhrasadṛśā raṇe.

patantaḥ tatra tatra eva chinnābhrasadṛśāḥ raṇe

25. And indeed, elephants, afflicted by arrows and spears, were seen falling here and there in the battle, resembling scattered clouds.
