महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-9, chapter-8, verse-20

उद्वृत्तनयनैस्तैस्तु गतसत्त्वैः सुविक्षतैः ।
व्यभ्राजत महाराज पुण्डरीकैरिवावृता ॥२०॥
20. udvṛttanayanaistaistu gatasattvaiḥ suvikṣataiḥ ,
vyabhrājata mahārāja puṇḍarīkairivāvṛtā.

20. O great king, the battlefield appeared as if covered by white lotuses, though it was actually strewn with those (corpses) whose eyes were rolled up, who had lost their vitality, and were severely wounded.
