महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-9, chapter-8, verse-18

शिरसां च महाराज पततां वसुधातले ।
च्युतानामिव तालेभ्यः फलानां श्रूयते स्वनः ॥१८॥
18. śirasāṁ ca mahārāja patatāṁ vasudhātale ,
cyutānāmiva tālebhyaḥ phalānāṁ śrūyate svanaḥ.
18. śirasām ca mahārāja patatām vasudhātale
cyutānām iva tālebhyaḥ phalānām śrūyate svanaḥ
18. mahārāja śirasām ca patatām vasudhātale
tālebhyaḥ cyutānām phalānām iva svanaḥ śrūyate
18. And, O great king, the sound of heads falling upon the earth is heard, just like the thud of fruits that have dropped from palm trees.
