महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-9, chapter-55, verse-12

मृगा बहुविधाकाराः संपतन्ति दिशो दश ।
दीप्ताः शिवाश्चाप्यनदन्घोररूपाः सुदारुणाः ॥१२॥
12. mṛgā bahuvidhākārāḥ saṁpatanti diśo daśa ,
dīptāḥ śivāścāpyanadanghorarūpāḥ sudāruṇāḥ.

12. Animals of many kinds rushed in all ten directions. Fierce and terribly formed jackals, exceedingly dreadful, also howled.
