महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-7, chapter-28, verse-27

तं तु कालमनुप्राप्तं विदित्वा पृथिवी तदा ।
प्रायाचत वरं यं मां नरकार्थाय तं शृणु ॥२७॥
27. taṁ tu kālamanuprāptaṁ viditvā pṛthivī tadā ,
prāyācata varaṁ yaṁ māṁ narakārthāya taṁ śṛṇu.
27. tam tu kālam anuprāptam viditvā pṛthivī tadā |
prāyācata varam yam mām narakaarthāya tam śṛṇu
27. tada pṛthivī tam anuprāptam kālam viditvā yam varam narakaarthāya mām prāyācata,

27. When the Earth (pṛthivī) then knew that time had arrived, she entreated me for a boon concerning hell; hear about that boon.
