महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-7, chapter-28, verse-19

अयुध्यमानस्तुरगान्संयन्तास्मि जनार्दन ।
इत्युक्त्वा पुण्डरीकाक्ष प्रतिज्ञां स्वां न रक्षसि ॥१९॥
19. ayudhyamānasturagānsaṁyantāsmi janārdana ,
ityuktvā puṇḍarīkākṣa pratijñāṁ svāṁ na rakṣasi.
19. ayudhyamānaḥ turagān saṃyantā asmi janārdana
iti uktvā puṇḍarīkākṣa pratijñām svām na rakṣasi
19. janārdana ayudhyamānaḥ turagān saṃyantā asmi
iti uktvā puṇḍarīkākṣa svām pratijñām na rakṣasi
19. 'I shall be the charioteer, controlling the horses and not fighting, O Janārdana (Krishna).' Having made this statement, O lotus-eyed one (Krishna), you are not keeping your own promise.
