महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-5, chapter-187, verse-28

एतेषु तीर्थेषु तदा काशिकन्या विशां पते ।
आप्लावयत गात्राणि तीव्रमास्थाय वै तपः ॥२८॥
28. eteṣu tīrtheṣu tadā kāśikanyā viśāṁ pate ,
āplāvayata gātrāṇi tīvramāsthāya vai tapaḥ.

28. O lord of the people (viśām pate)! Then, in these sacred places (tīrtheṣu), the maiden of Kāśi, having undertaken severe austerities (tapas), bathed her limbs.
