महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-294, verse-38

ततश्छित्त्वा कवचं दिव्यमङ्गात्तथैवार्द्रं प्रददौ वासवाय ।
तथोत्कृत्य प्रददौ कुण्डले ते वैकर्तनः कर्मणा तेन कर्णः ॥३८॥
38. tataśchittvā kavacaṁ divyamaṅgā;ttathaivārdraṁ pradadau vāsavāya ,
tathotkṛtya pradadau kuṇḍale te; vaikartanaḥ karmaṇā tena karṇaḥ.
38. tataḥ chittvā kavacam divyam aṅgāt
tathā eva ārdrām pradadau vāsavāya
tathā utkṛtya pradadau kuṇḍale
te vaikartanaḥ karmaṇā tena karṇaḥ
38. Then, having cut the divine armor (kavaca) from his body, still moist [with blood], Karṇa gave it to Vāsava (Indra). Similarly, Karṇa, the son of Vikartana (the Sun god), by that very noble action (karma), gave him those two earrings (kuṇḍale) after having extracted them.
