वैशंपायन उवाच ।
देवराजमनुप्राप्तं ब्राह्मणच्छद्मना वृषः ।
दृष्ट्वा स्वागतमित्याह न बुबोधास्य मानसम् ॥१॥

Vaiśampāyana said: Vṛṣa (Karna), having seen the king of gods (Indra) who had arrived in the disguise of a Brahmin, greeted him saying 'Welcome', but did not understand his (Indra's) intention.
