महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-2, chapter-48, verse-30

समुद्रसारं वैडूर्यं मुक्ताः शङ्खांस्तथैव च ।
शतशश्च कुथांस्तत्र सिंहलाः समुपाहरन् ॥३०॥
30. samudrasāraṁ vaiḍūryaṁ muktāḥ śaṅkhāṁstathaiva ca ,
śataśaśca kuthāṁstatra siṁhalāḥ samupāharan.
30. samudra-sāram vaiḍūryam muktāḥ śaṅkhān tathā eva
ca śataśaḥ ca kuthān tatra siṃhalāḥ samupāharan
30. There, the Siṃhalas (people of Sri Lanka) offered hundreds of emeralds (samudrasāra), cat's eye gems, pearls, conch shells, and likewise many blankets.
