महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-14, chapter-91, verse-25

अनन्तरं ब्राह्मणेभ्यः क्षत्रिया जह्रिरे वसु ।
तथा विट्शूद्रसंघाश्च तथान्ये म्लेच्छजातयः ।
कालेन महता जह्रुस्तत्सुवर्णं ततस्ततः ॥२५॥
25. anantaraṁ brāhmaṇebhyaḥ kṣatriyā jahrire vasu ,
tathā viṭśūdrasaṁghāśca tathānye mlecchajātayaḥ ,
kālena mahatā jahrustatsuvarṇaṁ tatastataḥ.

25. Subsequently, the Kṣatriyas took wealth from the Brahmins. Similarly, the communities of Vaiśyas and Śūdras, and other Mleccha communities, gradually took that gold from various places over a long period of time.
