महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-272, verse-36

अनेन हि तपस्तप्तं बलार्थममराधिप ।
षष्टिं वर्षसहस्राणि ब्रह्मा चास्मै वरं ददौ ॥३६॥
36. anena hi tapastaptaṁ balārthamamarādhipa ,
ṣaṣṭiṁ varṣasahasrāṇi brahmā cāsmai varaṁ dadau.
36. anena hi tapaḥ taptam balārtham amarādhipa ṣaṣṭim
varṣasahasrāṇi brahmā ca asmai varam dadau
36. amarādhipa anena hi balārtham ṣaṣṭim varṣasahasrāṇi
tapaḥ taptam ca brahmā asmai varam dadau
36. O Lord of the immortals, he (Vritra) indeed performed severe austerities (tapas) for sixty thousand years to gain strength. And Brahma granted him a boon.
