महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-200, verse-8

महाभूतानि भूतात्मा महात्मा पुरुषोत्तमः ।
वायुर्ज्योतिस्तथा चापः खं गां चैवान्वकल्पयत् ॥८॥
8. mahābhūtāni bhūtātmā mahātmā puruṣottamaḥ ,
vāyurjyotistathā cāpaḥ khaṁ gāṁ caivānvakalpayat.

jyotiḥ tathā ca āpaḥ kham gām ca eva anvakalpayat
8. bhūtātmā mahātmā puruṣottamaḥ eva mahābhūtāni

8. The Soul of all beings (bhūtātman), the Great-Souled (mahātman) and Supreme Person (puruṣottama), indeed created the great elements (mahābhūta): air, light (or fire), water, space, and earth.
