तत्र त्रेतायुगे काले संकल्पाज्जायते प्रजा ।
न ह्यभून्मैथुनो धर्मस्तेषामपि जनाधिप ॥३६॥

36. O ruler of men, at that time, in the Tretā Yuga, progeny were born from mere will (saṅkalpa). Indeed, for them too, the procreative practice (dharma) of sexual union did not exist.
