महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-117, verse-19

ततः संवासजं स्नेहमृषिणा कुर्वता सदा ।
स द्वीपी व्याघ्रतां नीतो रिपुभिर्बलवत्तरः ।
ततो दृष्ट्वा स शार्दूलो नाभ्यहंस्तं विशां पते ॥१९॥
19. tataḥ saṁvāsajaṁ snehamṛṣiṇā kurvatā sadā ,
sa dvīpī vyāghratāṁ nīto ripubhirbalavattaraḥ ,
tato dṛṣṭvā sa śārdūlo nābhyahaṁstaṁ viśāṁ pate.

19. Then, due to the constant affection shown by the sage, which arose from their living together, that leopard was transformed into a tiger, becoming stronger than its enemies. Therefore, O lord of the people, seeing him, that (new) tiger did not attack him.
