वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-7, chapter-27, verse-17

अनिहत्य रिपुं विष्णुर्न हि प्रतिनिवर्तते ।
दुर्लभश्चैष कामो ऽद्य वरमासाद्य राक्षसे ॥१७॥
17. anihatya ripuṃ viṣṇurna hi pratinivartate ,
durlabhaścaiṣa kāmo'dya varamāsādya rākṣase.

durlabhaḥ ca eṣa kāmaḥ adya varam āsādya rākṣase
17. viṣṇuḥ ripum anihatya hi na pratinivartate.

17. Viṣṇu certainly does not return without having slain his enemy. Therefore, this desire (to escape death), given that the rākṣasa has obtained a boon, is now difficult for him to achieve.
