वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-2, chapter-10, verse-4

करेणुमिव दिग्धेन विद्धां मृगयुणा वने ।
महागज इवारण्ये स्नेहात् परिममर्श ताम् ॥४॥
4. kareṇumiva digdhena viddhāṃ mṛgayuṇā vane ,
mahāgaja ivāraṇye snehāt parimamarśa tām.

mahāgajaḥ iva araṇye snehāt parimamarśa tām
4. (saḥ) araṇye mahāgajaḥ iva snehāt vane mṛgayuṇā

4. He caressed her out of love (sneha), like a great elephant (mahāgaja) in the wilderness, while she lay there like a female elephant (kareṇu) wounded by a hunter's poisoned arrow in the forest.
