मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-77, verse-31

यम उवाच ।
तातैतन्महदाश्चर्यं न दृष्टमिति केनचित् ।
माता वात्सल्यमुत्सृज्य शापं पुत्रे प्रयच्छति ॥३१॥
31. yama uvāca .
tātaitanmahadāścaryaṃ na dṛṣṭamiti kenacit .
mātā vātsalyamutsṛjya śāpaṃ putre prayacchati.
31. yamaḥ uvāca tāta etat mahat āścaryam na dṛṣṭam iti
kenacit mātā vātsalyam utsṛjya śāpam putre prayacchati
31. Yama said: "Father, this is a great wonder (āścarya), not seen by anyone. A mother abandons her affection and bestows a curse upon her son!"
