One who becomes despondent (avasīdati) even when supported by a good friend, by one's own people, by kinsmen, or by capable individuals—the four aims of human life: right conduct (dharma), prosperity (artha), enjoyment (kāma), and liberation (mokṣa) should be expounded in that situation, but not to such a person.
