तेषां तु सप्तमं ज्ञेयं मार्कर्ण्डेयं सुविश्रुतम् ।
ब्राह्मं पाद्मं वैष्णवं च शैवं भागवतं तथा ॥८॥

8. teṣāṃ tu saptamaṃ jñeyaṃ mārkarṇḍeyaṃ suviśrutam .
brāhmaṃ pādmaṃ vaiṣṇavaṃ ca śaivaṃ bhāgavataṃ tathā.

Among them, the seventh (Purāṇa) should be known as the very well-known Mārkaṇḍeya. (These are) the Brāhma, Pādma, Vaiṣṇava, Śaiva, and similarly the Bhāgavata.
