मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-134, verse-21

अपूज्य पाठकर्तारं श्लोकमेकं शृणोति यः ।
नासौ पुण्यमवाप्नोति शास्त्रचोरः स्मृतो हि सः ॥२१॥
21. apūjya pāṭhakartāraṃ ślokamekaṃ śṛṇoti yaḥ .
nāsau puṇyamavāpnoti śāstracoraḥ smṛto hi saḥ.
21. apūjya pāṭhakartāram ślokam ekam śṛṇoti yaḥ na
asau puṇyam avāpnoti śāstracoraḥ smṛtaḥ hi saḥ
21. Anyone who listens to even a single verse without first honoring the reciter does not acquire any merit (puṇya); indeed, such a person is regarded as a thief of scripture.
