मार्कण्डेयाय मुनये यत्तेऽस्माभिरुदाहृतम् ।
पुण्यं पवित्रमायुष्यं धर्मकामार्थसिद्धिदम् ॥३॥

That which we narrated to the sage Markaṇḍeya, (it is) sacred, purifying, conducive to longevity, and bestows success in righteousness (dharma), legitimate desires, and material prosperity.
