महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-106, verse-8

तव चापि पिता तात परित्यक्तो मयानघ ।
धर्मं संरक्षमाणेन पौराणां हितमिच्छता ॥८॥
8. tava cāpi pitā tāta parityakto mayānagha ,
dharmaṁ saṁrakṣamāṇena paurāṇāṁ hitamicchatā.
8. tava ca api pitā tāta parityaktaḥ mayā anagha
dharmam saṃrakṣamāṇena paurāṇām hitam icchatā
8. And your father, O dear one, O faultless one, was abandoned by me, who was protecting the natural law (dharma) and desiring the welfare of the citizens.
