महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-14, chapter-49, verse-2

अहिंसा सर्वभूतानामेतत्कृत्यतमं मतम् ।
एतत्पदमनुद्विग्नं वरिष्ठं धर्मलक्षणम् ॥२॥
2. ahiṁsā sarvabhūtānāmetatkṛtyatamaṁ matam ,
etatpadamanudvignaṁ variṣṭhaṁ dharmalakṣaṇam.
