महाभारतः mahābhārataḥ - book-14, chapter-49, verse-14

यथा प्रदीपमादाय कश्चित्तमसि गच्छति ।
तथा सत्त्वप्रदीपेन गच्छन्ति परमैषिणः ॥१४॥

14. Just as someone takes a lamp and proceeds through darkness, so too, those who strive for the supreme goal advance by means of the lamp of clarity (sattva).
