महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-129, verse-9

नित्यस्वाध्यायता धर्मो धर्मो यज्ञः सनातनः ।
दानं प्रशस्यते चास्य यथाशक्ति यथाविधि ॥९॥
9. nityasvādhyāyatā dharmo dharmo yajñaḥ sanātanaḥ ,
dānaṁ praśasyate cāsya yathāśakti yathāvidhi.

9. Constant self-study (svādhyāya) is a natural law (dharma); the eternal Vedic ritual (yajña) is also a natural law (dharma). Moreover, giving (dāna) by him is commended according to his capacity and according to proper procedure.
