योगवासिष्ठः       yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-5, chapter-80, verse-2

चक्षुरालोकनायैव जीवस्तु सुखदुःखयोः ।
भारायैव बलीवर्दो भोक्ता द्रव्यस्य नायकः ॥ २ ॥
cakṣurālokanāyaiva jīvastu sukhaduḥkhayoḥ ,
bhārāyaiva balīvardo bhoktā dravyasya nāyakaḥ 2

2. The eye is solely for seeing. However, the individual soul (jīva) is responsible for experiencing joy and sorrow. A bullock is merely for bearing burdens. The consumer (bhoktā) is the master of the substance.
