वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-7, chapter-29, verse-25

स मातलिं हयांश्चैव ताडयित्वा शरोत्तमैः ।
महेन्द्रं बाणवर्षेण शीघ्रहस्तो ह्यवाकिरत् ॥२५॥
25. sa mātaliṃ hayāṃścaiva tāḍayitvā śarottamaiḥ ,
mahendraṃ bāṇavarṣeṇa śīghrahasto hyavākirat.

mahendram bāṇavarṣeṇa śīghrahastaḥ hi avākirat

25. Indeed, he, being swift-handed, first struck Matali and the horses with excellent arrows, and then showered Mahendra (Indra) with a volley of arrows.
