मार्कण्डेय उवाच ।
एवं निरस्यमानास्ता हरिणेन मृगाङ्गनाः ।
श्रुत्वा स्वरोचिरात्मानं मेने स पतितं यथा ॥१॥
एवं निरस्यमानास्ता हरिणेन मृगाङ्गनाः ।
श्रुत्वा स्वरोचिरात्मानं मेने स पतितं यथा ॥१॥
1. mārkaṇḍeya uvāca .
evaṃ nirasyamānāstā hariṇena mṛgāṅganāḥ .
śrutvā svarocirātmānaṃ mene sa patitaṃ yathā.
evaṃ nirasyamānāstā hariṇena mṛgāṅganāḥ .
śrutvā svarocirātmānaṃ mene sa patitaṃ yathā.

Mārkaṇḍeya said: When those female deer were thus being rejected by the deer (Svarocis), Svarocis, upon hearing (the previous censure), considered his own self (ātman) fallen, just as he had been previously.
