मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-29, verse-32

स दत्त्वा दुष्कृतं तस्मै पुण्यमादाय गच्छति ।
अप्यम्बुशाकदानेन यद्वाप्यश्नाति स स्वयम् ॥३२॥
32. sa dattvā duṣkṛtaṃ tasmai puṇyamādāya gacchati .
apyambuśākadānena yadvāpyaśnāti sa svayam.
32. saḥ dattvā duṣkṛtam tasmai puṇyam ādāya gacchati
api ambu śāka dānena yad vā api aśnāti saḥ svayam
32. That guest, having given his misdeeds to the host, departs taking the host's merit (puṇya), even if the host himself eats only water and vegetables, or whatever little he has.
