मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-29, verse-29

शोभनाशोभनाकारं तं मन्येत प्रजापतिम् ।
अनित्यं हि स्थितो यस्मात् तस्मादतिथिरुच्यते ॥२९॥
29. śobhanāśobhanākāraṃ taṃ manyeta prajāpatim .
anityaṃ hi sthito yasmāt tasmādatithirucyate.
29. śobhana-aśobhana-ākāram tam manyeta prajāpatim
anityam hi sthitaḥ yasmāt tasmāt atithiḥ ucyate
29. One should consider him, whether of good or bad appearance, as Prajāpati (prajāpatim). For because he stays for an impermanent (short) time, he is therefore called an uninvited guest (atithi).
