मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-26, verse-15

राजोवाच ।
भवत्या यदिदं नाम मत्पुत्रस्य कृतं शुभे ।
किमीदृशमसम्बद्धमर्थः कोऽस्य मदालसे ॥१५॥
15. rājovāca .
bhavatyā yadidaṃ nāma matputrasya kṛtaṃ śubhe .
kimīdṛśamasambaddhamarthaḥ ko'sya madālase.
15. rājā uvāca bhavatyā yat idam nāma matputrasya kṛtaṃ
śubhe kim īdṛśam asambaddham arthaḥ kaḥ asya madālase
15. The king spoke: 'O auspicious one, this name that you have given to my son – why is it so unsuitable? What is its meaning, O Madālasā?'
