महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-8, chapter-37, verse-26

ततः सुपर्णाः संपेतुर्भक्षयन्तो भुजंगमान् ।
ते वै विदुद्रुवुर्नागा दृष्ट्वा तान्खचरान्नृप ॥२६॥
26. tataḥ suparṇāḥ saṁpeturbhakṣayanto bhujaṁgamān ,
te vai vidudruvurnāgā dṛṣṭvā tānkhacarānnṛpa.

te vai vidudruvuḥ nāgāḥ dṛṣṭvā tān khacarān nṛpa

nṛpa te nāgāḥ tān khacarān dṛṣṭvā vai vidudruvuḥ
26. Then the Suparṇas (Garudas) rushed forth, devouring the serpents. O king, indeed, having seen those sky-dwellers, the serpents (nāgāḥ) fled away.
