महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-7, chapter-126, verse-36

चक्षुर्मनोभ्यां संतोष्या विप्राः सेव्याश्च शक्तितः ।
न चैषां विप्रियं कार्यं ते हि वह्निशिखोपमाः ॥३६॥
36. cakṣurmanobhyāṁ saṁtoṣyā viprāḥ sevyāśca śaktitaḥ ,
na caiṣāṁ vipriyaṁ kāryaṁ te hi vahniśikhopamāḥ.
36. cakṣusmanobhyām santoṣyāḥ viprāḥ sevyāḥ ca śaktitaḥ
na ca eṣām vipriyam kāryam te hi vahniśikhopamāḥ

36. Brahmins should be pleased by one's respectful gaze and attitude (lit. 'eyes and mind'), and they should be served to the best of one's capacity. No harm or offense should be done to them, for they are indeed like flames of fire.
