saṃjaya uvāca: atha mahārathaḥ virāṭaḥ tribhiḥ bāṇaiḥ mahāratham bhīṣmam ārcchat ca asya turagān tribhiḥ bāṇaiḥ vivyādha.

Sanjaya said: Then Virata, a great charioteer, struck the great charioteer Bhishma with three arrows. He also pierced Bhishma's horses with three (more) arrows.
