महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-58, verse-5

हिरण्यदानं गोदानं पृथिवीदानमेव च ।
एतानि वै पवित्राणि तारयन्त्यपि दुष्कृतम् ॥५॥
5. hiraṇyadānaṁ godānaṁ pṛthivīdānameva ca ,
etāni vai pavitrāṇi tārayantyapi duṣkṛtam.

5. The giving (dāna) of gold, the giving (dāna) of cows, and also the giving (dāna) of land – these are indeed purifiers, and they even redeem one from misdeeds.
