महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-142, verse-8

भार्या हि परमो नाथः पुरुषस्येह पठ्यते ।
असहायस्य लोकेऽस्मिँल्लोकयात्रासहायिनी ॥८॥
8. bhāryā hi paramo nāthaḥ puruṣasyeha paṭhyate ,
asahāyasya loke'smiँllokayātrāsahāyinī.
8. bhāryā hi paramaḥ nāthaḥ puruṣasya iha paṭhyate
asāhāyasya loke asmin loka-yātrā-sahāyinī
8. Indeed, a wife is declared to be the supreme protector for a man (puruṣa) in this world, especially for a helpless person in this world, serving as a companion in the journey of life.
