अग्निमध्यं प्रविष्टं तं लुब्धो दृष्ट्वाथ पक्षिणम् ।
चिन्तयामास मनसा किमिदं नु कृतं मया ॥४२॥

42. agnimadhyaṁ praviṣṭaṁ taṁ lubdho dṛṣṭvātha pakṣiṇam ,
cintayāmāsa manasā kimidaṁ nu kṛtaṁ mayā.

42. Having then seen that bird enter the fire, the hunter thought to himself, "What indeed have I done?"
