महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-16, verse-29

ऋते नारायणं देवं दैत्या नागोत्तमास्तथा ।
चिरारब्धमिदं चापि सागरस्यापि मन्थनम् ॥२९॥
29. ṛte nārāyaṇaṁ devaṁ daityā nāgottamāstathā ,
cirārabdhamidaṁ cāpi sāgarasyāpi manthanam.
29. ṛte nārāyaṇam devam daityāḥ nāgottamāḥ tathā
cirārabdham idam ca api sāgarasya api manthanam
29. Without the god Nārāyaṇa, the Daityas (demons) and the chief Nāgas (serpents) were unable to complete this churning of the ocean, even though it had been long underway.
