योगवासिष्ठः       yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-7, chapter-187, verse-64

एष तन्मात्रकगणः काकतालीयवत्स्वयम् ।
रूपं येन प्रदेशेन वेत्त्यक्षीति तदुच्यते ॥ ६४ ॥
eṣa tanmātrakagaṇaḥ kākatālīyavatsvayam ,
rūpaṃ yena pradeśena vettyakṣīti taducyate 64

rūpam yena pradeśena vetti akṣī iti tat ucyate
64. eṣaḥ tanmātrakagaṇaḥ kākatālīyavat svayam tat
ucyate yena pradeśena akṣī rūpam vetti iti
64. This collection of subtle elements (tanmātra) spontaneously comes into being, much like the 'crow and palm fruit' coincidence. That faculty by which the eye perceives form is thus called the faculty of sight.
