सहचरा ऊचुः ।
पश्याद्रिसानाविव बिम्बितं स्वं पुरःसरो मारपुरःसरो यः ।
कह्लारपद्मोत्पलजालनालललद्विचित्रारवपक्षिवीतम् ॥ १ ॥

1. sahacarāḥ ūcuḥ paśya yaḥ puraḥsaraḥ mārapuraḥsaraḥ,

1. The companions said: Behold! (O King), your own reflection, (you) who are a forerunner, (and) who are preceded by the god of love (Māra), is mirrored as if on mountain slopes! It is surrounded by birds making charming, varied sounds amidst the stalks of red water lilies (kahlāra), lotuses (padma), and white water lilies (utpala).
