योगवासिष्ठः yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-3, chapter-100, verse-25

स्वयमक्षुब्धविमले यथा स्पन्दो महाम्भसि ।
संसारकारणं जीवस्तथायं परमात्मनि ॥ २५ ॥

svayamakṣubdhavimale yathā spando mahāmbhasi ,
saṃsārakāraṇaṃ jīvastathāyaṃ paramātmani 25

tathā ayam saṃsārakāraṇam jīvaḥ parama ātmani

25. Just as a pulsation or movement (spanda) arises within great, inherently undisturbed and pure water, so too this individual soul (jīva) is the cause of transmigration (saṃsāra) within the supreme Self (ātman).
