चलोपलजलां पुण्यां पश्चिमोदधिगामिनीम् ।
महिषैः सृमरैः सिंहैः शार्दूलर्क्षगजोत्तमैः ।
उष्णाभितप्तैस्तृषितैः संक्षोभितजलाशयाम् ॥१८॥

18. The Narmada, which had moving pebbles in its water, was sacred, and flowed towards the western ocean. Its body of water was agitated by buffaloes, wild boars, lions, tigers, bears, and mighty elephants, all distressed by heat and thirst.
