वाल्मीकि-रामायणम्       vālmīki-rāmāyaṇam - book-7, chapter-10, verse-39

कुम्भकर्णस्तु तद्वाक्यं श्रुत्वा वचनमब्रवीत् ।
स्वप्तुं वर्षाण्यनेकानि देवदेव ममेप्सितम् ॥३९॥
39. kumbhakarṇastu tadvākyaṃ śrutvā vacanamabravīt ,
svaptuṃ varṣāṇyanekāni devadeva mamepsitam.
39. kumbhakarṇaḥ tu tat vākyam śrutvā vacanam abravīt
svaptum varṣāṇi anekāni devadeva mama īpsitam
39. tu kumbhakarṇaḥ tat vākyam śrutvā vacanam abravīt
he devadeva mama anekāni varṣāṇi svaptum īpsitam
39. But Kumbhakarṇa, having heard those words, spoke a statement: "O lord of gods, my desire is to sleep for many years."
